Welcome to the Sierra Club Hudson Mohawk Group

NYS LEGISLATIVE ACTION NEEDED:
What You Can Do:
PLEASE contact your state legislators and ask them to support:
S.5759C (Harckham)/A.6192D (Kelles); An act to establish a five-year moratorium on land spreading of biosolids and to require testing for PFAS in biosolids. If there is concern about potential increased cost for municipalities in disposing of sewage sludge – a valid concern – ask them to advocate for funds targeted for this purpose from the State’s existing Clean Water Infrastructure Fund.

The Sierra Club Hudson Mohawk Group was founded in 1974 and has been dedicated to preserving, protecting and helping our members enjoy nature. Our territory covers the fourteen county area of the Capital District of New York State, centered in Albany-the Capitol of New York State. The Hudson-Mohawk Group, consisting of over 3,200 members is a subset of the Sierra Club Atlantic Chapter which is the statewide organization, also located in Albany. We are all organized under the National Sierra Club which is headquartered in Oakland, CA.

We have many conservation issues in which we are directly involved and others in which we play a supporting role. This provides our members with many volunteer opportunities for involvement in one way or another. This includes such actions as communicating with lawmakers about proposed legislation, contacting and educating other Sierra Club members about activities and getting involved at the ground level to protect natural areas such as forests, wetlands and bodies of water.

We update this site continually to accommodate our many members, keep you informed and hopefully get you involved in our activities to Explore, Enjoy and Protect the Planet!
